The universal Loving-Kindness
exercise is a good one. I totally believe in positive affirmations and that’s
what I see as it being based on. It is calming and I think that it can help some
people open their minds and hearts more but they would have to be willing to do
it and believe in it themselves.
There are so many things that I
discover everyday about myself. I believe in taking inventory every moment. There
are many areas that I would like to work on with growth and development. I think
that I am always in need of work in many areas of my life but losing my job a
few weeks ago I have slipped into a sort of depression. I am getting better and
losing the job has actually made my life less stressful. But the way boss man
went about it and knowing that we were actually kind of close made it hard on
me. Being as I have gone through such a life change recently I feel like I need
to concentrate on psychospiritual flourishing. This seems like the best area to
start with at this point in my life. I have learned a lot from this class and
it has actually been helping me through this tough time. I love the Integral Health book. It makes so much
sense to me. I find myself rereading many things just to remind myself and I
have never done that with any of my other school books.
Activities that I can do to help me
grow in this area would be to do positive affirmations and using the universal
loving-kindness exercise. I also think that the witnessing mind and
calm-abiding exercises will help me get to where I need to be. I always feel
mentally and emotionally better when I am physically active too, so I am making
sure that I get to the gym and keep myself physically healthy as well.

ReplyDeletePositive affirmations sometimes get me through my day. Hang in there, many times when there is a change coming in your life it may be hard to see the positive result at first. I know the loss of a job can be very scary, but it may also open up new avenues for you to explore. I was just reading an article before I came in to do this response. It was talking about the positive effects of exercise and mental fitness, you are on the right track, I wish you the best.

ReplyDeleteI am sorry about the loss of your job and hope you are doing better as time passes. Your positive attitude will help you find an even better job! I agree with Cyndie - it can be scary, but I believe when one door closes another door opens. I recently lost a job that supplements my income. I am struggling financially, but I have more time to focus on school work. I only have one term left and then I can concentrate on finding work without worrying about school. Good luck to you! :-)

ReplyDeleteI had an experience like yours years ago- I lost my job of 16 years suddenly and was pretty horrified and lost. I was thankful at the time I worked two jobs to have some income, and that job picked up some hours for me to supplement my unemployment. Amazingly enough a new store opened and I managed to get the position as the Floral Manager and run a very successful floral shop. To that end, after 5 years I had to leave the position because my allergies were out of control to the point where my throat was swelling shut. I ended up the Natural and Organics Lead which I never liked, but shocker of shocker- I found I wanted to be in a better position to help people, really help, and here I am at Kaplan due to graduate in Nov! Things definitely do happen for a reason, and I totally understand the "when GOD closes a door, HE opens a window". HE surely did, and will for you also.
